Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has shared a video showing his brief encounter with former Anambra State governor and 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. The video, which surfaced online on Sunday, captured both men exchanging pleasantries before Obi proceeded toward the departure area with members of his entourage. 
In the 35-second clip posted on his X account, Omokri approached Obi, greeted him warmly, and briefly exchanged words with him while commuters and airport officials moved around the terminal. Omokri, who is widely known for his strong support for President Bola Tinubu and frequent criticism of Obi’s political positions, captioned the post: “Peter Obi And I Exchanging Warm Greetings Today At Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport In Anticipation of President Tinubu’s Reelection Next Year!” 
The encounter quickly generated reactions across social media, with supporters of both political figures debating the significance of the moment. Some users described the exchange as a demonstration of political maturity despite sharp ideological disagreements, while others interpreted it as a reminder that personal relationships among politicians often differ from the intensity of online political rivalries. 
Omokri and Obi have frequently clashed publicly over national issues and the performance of President Tinubu’s administration, especially since the 2023 general elections. Their airport interaction nevertheless appeared cordial and calm, drawing widespread attention because of their long-standing political differences and repeated exchanges on social media and in public commentary.
