The Nigeria Customs Service has intercepted several stolen luxury vehicles, including exotic brands such as Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, Mercedes-Benz, and Range Rover, which were allegedly smuggled from Canada into Nigeria through international shipping routes. The vehicles were recovered at the Tin Can Island Port in Lagos following months of intelligence sharing between Nigerian authorities and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. 
According to Customs documents, the intercepted vehicles included a 2019 Lamborghini Huracán, 2018 Lamborghini Aventador, 2021 Rolls-Royce Dawn Convertible, 2019 Mercedes-Benz G550, 2023 Range Rover, 2019 Lexus RX350, and a 2026 Toyota Tundra. Authorities confirmed that all the vehicles had been reported stolen in Canada before being illegally exported and routed to Nigeria through shipping channels. 
Speaking during the official handover ceremony held at Tin Can Island Port, Customs Area Controller Comptroller Frank Onyeka said Nigerian operatives swiftly isolated the suspicious consignments after intelligence alerts and shipping documents were transmitted by Canadian authorities. He explained that Customs deliberately withheld the release of the vehicles until Canadian officials arrived in person to verify and recover them. Canada’s Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Nasser Salihou, formally received the recovered vehicles on behalf of the Canadian government. 
The Nigeria Customs Service described the operation as a major breakthrough against transnational vehicle theft syndicates that exploit global maritime routes to move stolen automobiles across countries. Officials also said the recovery highlights growing cooperation between Nigeria and Canada in intelligence sharing, cargo profiling, and enforcement efforts aimed at combating cross-border crimes and illicit trade.
