A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Bauchi State, Usman Adamu, has declared that the PDP remains the most dominant political party in the state despite recent political realignments and defections ahead of the 2027 elections. Speaking after submitting his expression of interest forms at the party headquarters in Abuja, Adamu expressed confidence that the PDP would retain control of Bauchi State in the next governorship election. 
Adamu dismissed concerns that the influence of Governor Bala Mohammed or any preferred successor could determine the outcome of the PDP primaries, insisting that Bauchi voters are politically conscious and capable of making independent decisions. He argued that the state has historically resisted political imposition, recalling how an incumbent governor was defeated in previous elections despite the advantages of office. 
The aspirant also maintained that the PDP’s grassroots structure in Bauchi remains solid, describing the party as deeply rooted across the state’s local governments and communities. According to him, most residents still identify strongly with the PDP despite the broader instability and defections currently affecting opposition politics at the national level. 
His comments come amid ongoing uncertainty within Nigeria’s opposition landscape, especially following reports of defections by prominent politicians and legal disputes affecting major parties ahead of the 2027 elections. Bauchi State has remained one of the PDP’s traditional strongholds in Northern Nigeria, with the party maintaining considerable electoral influence in the state over the years.
