Gunmen have killed Kolade Eluyera, the son of the Women Leader of the Accord Party in Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State, sparking tension and political reactions in the area. The incident reportedly occurred in Ikire, where the victim was found with gunshot wounds after an attack by unidentified assailants. 
The Osun State Police Command confirmed the killing, saying a lifeless body was recovered at the scene and that officers had already launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Police spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, added that additional operatives had been deployed to the area to help track those responsible and improve security. 
Political reactions have followed the incident, with the Imole Campaign Council—linked to Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election bid—calling for a thorough probe and alleging that prior warnings of violence and intimidation in the area were ignored. The council claimed security agencies had been alerted earlier about rising political tensions in the locality. 
The killing has further heightened concerns about political violence in Osun State ahead of the upcoming governorship election, with both security agencies and political actors trading accusations while investigations continue.
