The Osun State Police Command has begun an investigation after the decomposing body of a hairstylist identified simply as Kemisola was discovered inside her apartment in the Jaleyemi area of Osogbo. The shocking discovery was made on Thursday after neighbours noticed a foul odour coming from her room and had not seen her for several days.
According to residents, a co-tenant became suspicious after noticing that the door to Kemisola’s room was slightly open and repeated greetings went unanswered. Upon checking the apartment, the neighbour reportedly found her lifeless body lying on the bed in a decomposed state. Witnesses at the scene said a knife, a mobile phone, and an empty bottle containing an unknown substance were also found in the room before police evacuated the remains.
Family members and neighbours described the deceased as a calm and friendly hairstylist who had only recently returned to the area after staying with a relative due to unstable electricity supply in the neighbourhood. One of her relatives said he last saw her on Monday after she returned from a trip to Igbajo and was shocked to later hear of her death.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, Abiodun Ojelabi, said the case had been officially reported and that an autopsy would be carried out to determine the exact cause of death. He added that preliminary observations showed no visible signs of violence on the body, but assured that a full investigation had commenced to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.
