Human rights organisation Amnesty International has condemned the killing of at least five people during a violent political attack in Kano, describing the incident as part of a growing wave of political violence in the state. The organisation said armed thugs reportedly attacked and killed victims during clashes linked to political activities, warning that the situation reflects a dangerous escalation of insecurity surrounding partisan events. 
According to Amnesty, the group reviewed disturbing video footage showing armed men chasing victims through the streets before allegedly cornering and killing them. Other clips reportedly showed injured victims lying in pools of blood. The organisation also claimed that some of the attackers were seen wearing clothing associated with the ruling party while chanting threatening slogans during the violence. 
Amnesty International further disclosed that it is investigating allegations linking some prominent politicians and government officials in Kano to the sponsorship of armed political groups involved in the attack. The rights body warned that increasing political violence is creating fear among residents and undermining citizens’ ability to freely participate in political activities without intimidation. 
The organisation called on the Federal Government, security agencies, political leaders, and parties to uphold the rule of law and protect lives before, during, and after political events. It stressed that authorities must ensure accountability for those responsible, warning that unchecked violence could further destabilise the political climate in Kano and other parts of the country.
