The African Democratic Congress has described the exit of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as a setback, but insists it is far from a fatal blow to the party’s 2027 ambitions. Party spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi acknowledged that losing two high-profile politicians was significant, but maintained that the party’s core objectives remain unchanged. 
According to Abdullahi, while their departure is disappointing, it does not automatically translate into electoral loss, noting that past voting strength does not guarantee future outcomes. He added that despite personal dissatisfaction with their exit, the party remains focused on its long-term strategy and is confident in its ability to stay competitive. 
Interestingly, the ADC also described the development as a form of “relief,” suggesting that the presence of both politicians had created internal pressure within the party. Abdullahi explained that their exit allows the party to refocus and operate without internal strain, emphasizing that the ADC does not view them as enemies and will not engage in political hostility.
