At least three people have lost their lives in a tragic road accident along the busy Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, while one other person sustained injuries, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). The crash adds to a growing list of fatal incidents on the highway, which remains one of Nigeria’s busiest transport corridors.

FRSC officials confirmed that the accident involved a commercial vehicle and was linked to dangerous driving conditions, including possible speed violations or loss of control. Rescue teams were deployed to the scene shortly after the incident, evacuating victims and transporting the injured person to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Similar crashes on the expressway have often been attributed to overspeeding, mechanical faults, and poor road discipline.

Authorities reiterated calls for motorists to strictly obey traffic regulations, especially on high-speed routes like the Lagos–Ibadan corridor, which handles heavy daily traffic and has a history of fatal accidents. The FRSC emphasized that proper vehicle maintenance and adherence to speed limits remain critical to reducing road fatalities, as investigations into the latest crash continue.
