The Nigeria Police Force in Oyo State has detained two officers following the death of a 35-year-old motorcyclist, Sanni Salisu, during an encounter in the Moniya area of Ibadan. Authorities said the incident occurred during an unauthorised stop-and-search operation, where the victim reportedly collapsed after suffering what appeared to be a seizure while on his motorcycle. 
Police explained that the officers rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was confirmed dead. However, the incident quickly triggered tension in the community, with angry residents—reportedly acting on misinformation—attacking a police outpost. The unrest led to the destruction of vehicles and property, while at least one officer sustained serious injuries before reinforcements restored order. 
In response, the Commissioner of Police ordered the immediate arrest and detention of the officers involved, directing a full investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department. Authorities also confirmed that an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death, assuring the public that any officer found culpable will face disciplinary action.
