Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has officially joined the 2027 Ogun State governorship race after obtaining the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination and expression of interest forms. 
The forms, reportedly costing ₦50 million, were picked up on his behalf at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, signalling a formal declaration of intent to contest for the state’s top office.  Yayi currently represents Ogun West Senatorial District in the National Assembly and has been widely linked with strong political backing within the party. 
His entry into the race comes amid intensifying political activity within the APC, with multiple aspirants positioning ahead of the party’s primaries. Analysts say the move further confirms that the battle for Ogun’s governorship in 2027 is already taking shape, with early alignments and endorsements expected to influence the outcome.
