The Edo State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers in Iyamho, near Edo State University, in what authorities described as a targeted operation against criminal activity in the area. The suspects, identified as Sani Kabir (23) and Hamza Nuhu (25), were apprehended after officers acted on credible intelligence about their movements.

During the operation, police recovered a cache of weapons and items believed to be linked to kidnapping activities, including two Dane guns, a live AK-47 round, cutlasses, gunpowder, and locally made bullets, along with charms and other equipment. Officials said the suspects are strongly linked to kidnapping operations in the region, raising concerns about ongoing security threats.

The Commissioner of Police has ordered their transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department’s anti-kidnapping unit for further investigation and possible prosecution. Authorities also reassured residents that intensified operations are underway, stressing that Edo will not be allowed to become a safe haven for kidnappers or violent criminals.
