A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Sikiru Apena, has officially declared his intention to contest for a seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 elections. The retired Assistant Comptroller of Customs made his declaration during a stakeholders’ meeting in Abigi, Ogun Waterside Local Government Area, where he sought the support of party leaders and residents.
Apena said his decision was driven by a desire to provide responsive and people-focused representation, noting that he has carefully studied the developmental challenges facing the riverine constituency. He highlighted his background in public service and community engagement as key strengths, pledging to use his experience to deliver meaningful governance and improve living conditions for residents.
He also promised to prioritise inclusive growth, accountability, and stronger grassroots engagement, stressing that Ogun Waterside needs a louder voice in the state assembly. The declaration adds to the growing list of aspirants within the APC as political activity intensifies ahead of the party primaries and the 2027 general elections.
