At least 11 people have been killed following a renewed bandit attack on Gurbi village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State. The assault, which occurred on April 26, saw gunmen open fire on residents, leaving two others injured in the process.
According to security sources, the attackers stormed the community in the afternoon, shooting sporadically before fleeing as joint security forces moved in. Police confirmed that operatives, alongside other agencies, responded to a distress call, but the assailants escaped upon sighting the advancing team.
Authorities say normalcy has since been restored, with injured victims receiving treatment and the deceased buried according to local customs. However, the incident highlights the persistent insecurity in Katsina and the wider شمال-west region, where bandit attacks continue despite ongoing military and police operations.
