Gunman Tried to Kill Trump, Cabinet at Gala Dinner
\n\nA dramatic security incident unfolded at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C., where a gunman allegedly attempted to target former U.S. President Donald Trump and top cabinet officials during the high-profile gala.

The attack happened on April 25, 2026, at the Washington Hilton hotel. Reports indicate the suspect opened fire and tried to breach a security checkpoint leading into the ballroom, where Trump, senior government officials, and hundreds of guests were gathered.

Security agents responded immediately, with the U.S. Secret Service evacuating Trump, the Vice President, and cabinet members to safety. During the confrontation, at least one officer was struck but protected by body armour, and the suspect was eventually subdued and arrested.

Investigators say early findings suggest the attacker intended to assassinate Trump and other administration officials, making it a targeted political attack rather than a random shooting. Some reports also indicate the suspect came heavily armed with a shotgun, handgun, and knives, highlighting the seriousness of the threat.

Despite the chaos, no fatalities were recorded, and all top officials present including Trump were unharmed. Authorities believe the suspect acted alone, though investigations are ongoing to determine motive and any wider connections
