\n\nJoint security operatives have recorded a major breakthrough in Plateau State after arresting suspected kidnappers and recovering ₦8 million ransom paid by a victim’s family. The operation took place in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area, where authorities have intensified efforts against criminal activities. 
According to officials, two suspects—Waltu Watter and Sale Mamma—were arrested in connection with the crime. The suspects were accused of killing a man, Alhaji Saidu Mamma, and abducting his daughter, for whom they demanded and collected the ₦8 million ransom before security forces intervened. 
Following coordinated intelligence-led operations, security agencies successfully tracked down the kidnappers, apprehended them, and recovered the full ransom, which authorities have ordered to be returned to the victim’s family. The operation also led to the rescue of another kidnapped woman, who had been held in a forest hideout for over a week before being freed after a gun battle between operatives and the criminals. 
Local authorities praised the efforts of the security agencies, describing the operation as a sign of renewed commitment to tackling kidnapping and violent crime in the region. They also vowed to strengthen surveillance, particularly around border communities, to prevent criminals from using the area as a safe haven. 
The development adds to ongoing efforts by security forces in Plateau State, where kidnapping and banditry have remained persistent challenges, with authorities increasingly relying on intelligence gathering and inter-agency collaboration to curb the threat.
