The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially postponed its presidential and governorship primaries as part of adjustments to its timetable for the 2027 general elections. 
Under the revised schedule, the presidential primary, initially slated for May 15–16, will now hold on May 23, 2026, while the governorship primaries have been moved to May 21, 2026.  The changes were announced after the party’s National Working Committee meeting in Abuja. 
The party explained that the adjustment is to align with the Electoral Act 2026, the Constitution, and the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).  It also affects earlier stages of the process, including the screening of aspirants and appeal timelines, which have been rescheduled accordingly. 
As part of the updated timetable, sale of nomination forms will run from April 25 to May 2, while submission closes on May 4. Screening of aspirants is expected between May 6 and May 8, with presidential aspirants screened on May 9 and results released on May 11. 
The APC added that it will adopt both direct and consensus primaries, allowing aspirants to choose their preferred method. Where consensus fails, the process will automatically revert to direct primaries. 
The postponement reflects ongoing political preparations ahead of the 2027 elections, with parties adjusting schedules to meet regulatory requirements and manage internal processes more effectively.
