\n\nTop industry leaders, policymakers, and sector stakeholders gathered in Lagos for the 2026 edition of the Vanguard Economic Discourse, a major platform for discussing Nigeria’s economic direction—particularly in agriculture and food security. The event, held at the Civic Centre in Victoria Island, brought together key players from both the public and private sectors.
The discourse, themed “Food Security and Socio-economic Stability: Options for Nigeria’s Agriculture Sector Rebound,” focused on addressing challenges within Nigeria’s food system and identifying practical strategies for sustainable growth. It featured panel discussions, expert presentations, and networking sessions involving stakeholders across the agricultural value chain, financial institutions, and international development organisations.
High-profile participants included government officials, agribusiness leaders, and representatives of global organisations such as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The event was chaired by the Minister of Livestock Development, while discussions were headlined by leading experts in agriculture, policy, and economic development.
The gathering underscores the growing importance of collaborative dialogue between government and the private sector in tackling Nigeria’s food security challenges. With increasing pressure on the agricultural sector, stakeholders emphasized the need for policy reforms, investment, and innovation to drive resilience and long-term economic stability.
