President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, resulting in key changes within the Federal Executive Council. The most significant development is the removal of Wale Edun as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy. 
Following the shake-up, Taiwo Oyedele has been elevated from his previous role as Minister of State for Finance to take over as the new Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy. The transition was confirmed in an official memo directing Edun to hand over immediately. 
The reshuffle also affected the housing sector, with Ahmed Musa Dangiwa removed as Minister of Housing and Urban Development. He is to be replaced by Muttaqha Rabe Darma, who has been named minister-designate pending confirmation. 
According to the Presidency, the changes are part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve policy delivery, particularly in the economic team. Analysts see Oyedele’s appointment—given his background in fiscal policy and tax reforms—as a strategic move to reinforce ongoing economic reforms and stabilise Nigeria’s economy amid current challenges.
