Troops of the Nigerian Army have intercepted suspected terrorist logistics couriers and recovered a cache of ammunition during an intelligence-led operation in Kogi State. The operation was carried out by soldiers of the 12 Brigade along the Obajana–Kabba road in Lokoja Local Government Area on April 20, 2026. 
According to military authorities, the troops acted on credible intelligence and mounted a checkpoint, where they stopped a Toyota bus travelling from Makurdi. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the arrest of two suspects, identified as Mallam Zubairu Abubakar and Adamu Abubakar Abdullahi. 
During the operation, soldiers recovered 314 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and three AK-47 magazines, which were concealed inside the vehicle. Other items, including mobile phones and identification documents, were also seized, as investigations continue into the suspects’ alleged links to terrorist networks. 
The army noted that the interception is part of ongoing efforts to disrupt arms supply routes and weaken criminal groups operating within the region. It also referenced earlier operations in the area, including the arrest of another suspected courier who used a specially modified motorcycle with hidden compartments to transport ammunition. 
The development highlights continued military pressure on terrorist logistics networks, with authorities reaffirming their commitment to intelligence-driven operations aimed at curbing insecurity across affected regions.
