A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with Nyesom Wike has rejected claims suggesting that its National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, was wrongly suspended, insisting that recent narratives around his appeal are misleading. The group stated that the legal processes surrounding Anyanwu’s suspension have been misrepresented in public discussions, stressing that existing court decisions remain valid and binding.
According to the Wike-backed camp, Anyanwu’s appeal does not nullify earlier rulings that affirmed disciplinary actions taken against him and other party officials. They argued that filing an appeal does not automatically overturn a judgment unless a higher court explicitly sets it aside, emphasizing that interpretations suggesting otherwise are incorrect. The faction maintained that the internal disciplinary measures followed due process in line with the party’s constitution. 
The group further accused rival factions within the party of deliberately twisting legal developments to create confusion and gain political advantage amid the ongoing leadership crisis. They reiterated that the party structure recognised by relevant authorities remains intact, warning members against being misled by what they described as “false narratives” about the appeal and suspension status.
The development is the latest twist in the prolonged PDP leadership crisis, which has seen multiple court cases, parallel structures, and competing claims of legitimacy. Observers note that the dispute continues to deepen divisions within the opposition party, with legal battles and political manoeuvring expected to persist as stakeholders position themselves ahead of future elections.
