The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that the results of candidates who sat for the first day of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will be released today, Friday, April 17, 2026. The examination, which commenced nationwide on Thursday, April 16, is part of a multi-day schedule expected to run across several sessions in accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres. 
According to the examination body, candidates who participated on the opening day should expect their results before the end of the day. JAMB also advised candidates to rely only on its official communication channels for updates and to disregard misinformation circulating online regarding the release process. 
The early release of results reflects JAMB’s continued use of technology-driven processes, which allow for faster marking and processing of candidates’ scores. Over 2.2 million candidates are expected to sit for the 2026 UTME nationwide, with results typically made available shortly after each exam day. 
Education stakeholders say the prompt release of results is aimed at improving transparency and reducing anxiety among candidates, while also ensuring that the admission process begins on time. Candidates are expected to check their results through official JAMB platforms once they are released later in the day.
