Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has officially named Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election in the state. The announcement was made during a strategic caucus meeting of party leaders and stakeholders held on Monday, where discussions focused on succession planning and preparations for the next electoral cycle.

Speaking at the meeting, Abiodun revealed that the party had already reached a decision on its preferred flag bearer, emphasizing the need for unity and continuity within the APC. The declaration was met with loud cheers and celebration from party members, as Adeola stood to acknowledge the endorsement. The meeting was attended by key political figures and party chieftains, signaling broad support within the party’s leadership structure for the consensus arrangement.

The endorsement of Adeola is seen as a major political development ahead of the 2027 elections, potentially narrowing the field of aspirants within the APC. Party leaders noted that the consensus decision reflects efforts to avoid internal divisions and strengthen the party’s chances of retaining power in Ogun State. Adeola, who currently represents Ogun West Senatorial District, is regarded as a prominent figure within the party and is expected to build on the existing political structure ahead of the polls.
