The Imo State Police Command has dismantled a suspected robbery syndicate operating across parts of the state and recovered about 450 motorcycles, in what authorities described as one of the largest anti-crime breakthroughs in recent months. The operation, carried out by police operatives acting on intelligence-led investigations, led to the arrest of multiple suspects believed to be involved in armed robbery and motorcycle snatching across Imo communities.

According to security sources, the crackdown was part of a wider effort by the command to curb rising cases of violent crimes, particularly those involving stolen motorcycles used for transportation and criminal activities. The recovered motorcycles were reportedly traced to different locations linked to the suspects’ operations, suggesting a coordinated network of theft and resale. Police say investigations are ongoing to identify buyers and other members of the syndicate still at large.

The Imo State Police Public Relations Officer confirmed that the operation was successful due to sustained intelligence gathering and community cooperation, which helped operatives track down the criminal network. Authorities also noted that many of the recovered motorcycles will be subjected to verification processes before being returned to rightful owners where possible. The police further reassured residents of continued efforts to restore security and disrupt criminal syndicates operating in the state.
