The Zamfara State Police Command has successfully repelled two separate attacks by suspected armed bandits in Maru and Bukkuyum local government areas, preventing further casualties and restoring calm in the affected communities. 
According to police spokesperson Yazid Abubakar, the first incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. along the Kadauri–Kizawa axis in Maru, where bandits riding about ten motorcycles and armed with AK-47 rifles confronted security operatives. The police engaged them in a gun duel, forcing the attackers to retreat into nearby forests with suspected gunshot wounds. However, one member of a local vigilante group was injured and taken to hospital for treatment. 
In a second attack earlier that same day, around 1:35 a.m., a larger group of bandits stormed Yar Galma village in Bukkuyum, firing sporadically and causing panic. A joint team of police and vigilantes responded swiftly, repelling the attackers and pushing them back into the forest. During the encounter, four residents sustained injuries and were evacuated for medical care. 
Authorities confirmed that normalcy has been restored in both areas, with ongoing patrols and surveillance to prevent further attacks. The police also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support security operations in the state.
