The Nigerian Army has clarified the circumstances surrounding the death of Brigadier General Oseni Braimah, who was killed during a terrorist attack on a military base in Benisheikh, Borno State. The clarification comes amid widespread reports and speculation following the incident. 
According to the Army, claims that the general died due to an unserviceable or faulty vehicle are false. The military explained that he was operating in a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle, which was only temporarily immobilised during intense combat as he coordinated a counterattack—not due to any mechanical failure. 
The Army also dismissed reports that as many as 17 soldiers were killed, stating that the verified casualty figure is four personnel—two officers and two soldiers. It described the circulating reports and visuals as misleading and exaggerated, warning that such misinformation could undermine military operations and create unnecessary panic. 
Despite the losses, the military maintained that troops of Operation Hadin Kai successfully repelled the attackers, retained control of the base, and forced the insurgents to retreat, reaffirming its commitment to ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in the North-East.
