A member of the House of Representatives, James Faleke, has endorsed Obafemi Hamzat as the preferred candidate for the Lagos State governorship ahead of the 2027 elections. The lawmaker publicly declared his support, urging party members and supporters across Lagos to rally behind Hamzat as preparations for party primaries intensify. 
Faleke made the endorsement via his official social media platform, calling on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to back Hamzat for the 2027–2035 governorship cycle. His statement comes at a critical time when political consultations and alignments are gaining momentum ahead of the party’s primaries scheduled for May. 
The endorsement adds to growing indications within the APC that Hamzat may emerge as a consensus candidate, following high-level meetings among party stakeholders.  Observers say the move reflects ongoing strategic positioning within Lagos politics, where key figures are beginning to openly support potential successors to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the 2027 election approaches.
