Two children were rescued after a two-storey residential building collapsed in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, raising fresh concerns about structural safety in the area. The incident occurred around 9:10 a.m. on Ajegunle Street, off Sabo-Line in the Isale area, involving a six-flat building. 
According to the Kwara State Fire Service, the children—identified as Ahmad (8) and Hussainat (10)—were initially trapped under the rubble but were successfully rescued and taken to a hospital before emergency responders arrived. Firefighters later conducted salvage operations, recovering valuables such as clothes, electronics, and important documents from the debris. 
Authorities have since sealed off the collapsed building and issued a seven-day evacuation notice to occupants of a nearby structure found to be unsafe. Officials also revealed that warnings had previously been given about the building’s deteriorating condition, stressing the need for regular structural checks and early action to prevent such incidents.
