The Edo State Government temporarily sealed an event venue known as Mega Hub after it hosted a show where Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The incident followed an event held on April 3, 2026, during which the artist paused his performance to openly condemn the administration and Nigeria’s economic situation. 
A viral video from the event showed the rapper mocking the president’s handling of security issues, particularly referencing attacks in Plateau State. He also criticised the ruling party and warned supporters about the consequences of backing the current government, sparking widespread reactions online. 
Days after the event, officials of the Edo State Government sealed the venue, fueling speculation that the action was linked to the criticism. However, the state’s Commissioner for Information, Kassim Afegbua, denied any political motive, stating that the closure was based on security intelligence and not related to the rapper’s comments. The government later confirmed that the facility had been reopened, allowing business activities to resume.
