The Northern States Governors’ Forum has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru, who passed away in Egypt while receiving medical treatment. The chairman of the forum and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Yahaya, described the loss as painful and significant, not just for Kebbi State but for the entire northern region and Nigeria’s democratic system. 

In a condolence message, Yahaya praised the late speaker as a dedicated lawmaker and stabilising force in governance, highlighting his commitment, wisdom, and service to democratic ideals. He noted that Zuru played a key role in legislative development and contributed meaningfully to governance in Kebbi State, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and public service. 

The forum extended its condolences to the Kebbi State Government, the state assembly, and the family of the deceased, while offering prayers for his soul. Governors across the region emphasised that his contributions to governance and democracy would be remembered, as tributes continue to pour in following his passing.
