Security continues to be a primary focus for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji‑Ojo, has affirmed, amid persistent violence in various parts of Nigeria. Speaking at a high‑level security meeting in Abuja, the minister reiterated that the federal government remains committed to strengthening the nation’s security architecture to protect lives, property, and economic activities.
Tunji‑Ojo said the administration has intensified joint operations, intelligence gathering, and inter‑agency collaboration to confront insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping. He highlighted efforts to upgrade surveillance capabilities, improve logistics, and provide enhanced support for security personnel deployed across volatile regions. The minister described security as “non‑negotiable” and emphasised that peace is foundational to national development and investment attraction.
The minister also acknowledged the challenges posed by diverse threats but stressed that government policies now prioritise proactive and community‑based approaches. He urged citizens to cooperate with security agencies, provide timely information, and support local initiatives that promote safety and resilience, underscoring that sustainable peace requires both state action and public participation.
