The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed that three people were killed and one injured in a fresh attack by gunmen in Pwomol Village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area. The incident occurred in the early hours of April 6, 2026, when residents reported gunshots, prompting a rapid response from security operatives.
Police spokesperson Alabo Alfred stated that a joint security team was deployed to the scene, where they repelled the attackers and later arrested one suspect identified as Suleiman, who was found with bloodstains. The injured victim is currently receiving medical treatment, while authorities have assured the public that investigations are ongoing to track down other fleeing suspects.
Reacting to the incident, the lawmaker representing Barkin Ladi Constituency, Dickson Y. Chollom, strongly condemned the killings and called for full transparency in the investigation. He insisted that Nigerians should no longer accept attacks being attributed to “unknown gunmen,” urging security agencies to publicly identify those responsible and ensure justice is served for the victims.
