At least nine people have been killed following a fresh attack by suspected armed herders on communities in Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State. The assault targeted Mbalom, Mbatsada, and Agana communities, where gunmen reportedly stormed the area in the early evening, unleashing violence on residents. 
The attack coincided with a busy market day in Mbalom, worsening the scale of the tragedy as many villagers had gathered when the assailants struck. Several others were injured during the હુમલો, while many residents fled their homes to seek safety in nearby areas amid panic and confusion. 
Local authorities confirmed that nine शवs have been recovered so far, describing the нападение as unprovoked and deeply troubling. Officials have called on the federal government to urgently address the rising threat of armed herders in the state, as Benue continues to experience recurring violent attacks linked to ongoing security challenges.
