The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued 47 Nigerians at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, preventing what authorities described as a coordinated human trafficking attempt to Cairo, Egypt. The interception was carried out through a joint operation involving NAPTIP, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and the Nigeria Immigration Service. 
According to the agency, the victims—46 females and one male, all adults—were allegedly being transported abroad under false promises of employment opportunities. They were reportedly told they would work as house helps, factory workers, and sales representatives, but investigations suggest the offers were deceptive and consistent with known trafficking schemes used by criminal networks. 
The rescued individuals have been placed in protective custody for profiling and support, while authorities continue investigations to uncover and dismantle the trafficking syndicate behind the operation. NAPTIP also urged Nigerians to be cautious of suspicious travel arrangements and unverified overseas job offers, warning that such schemes are commonly used to exploit unsuspecting victims.
