President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday met with Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to address the worsening security situation in the state. The meeting followed the recent deadly attack in the Angwan Rukuba area of Jos, where at least 27 people were reportedly killed during a Palm Sunday assault that shocked the nation. 
The president had earlier condemned the killings, describing them as “barbaric and cowardly,” while vowing that those responsible would be brought to justice. He also commended the governor’s efforts in managing the crisis and directed security agencies to intensify operations to track down the perpetrators. Tinubu further warned against narratives that could inflame tensions, particularly claims framing the violence along religious lines. 
The Aso Rock meeting is expected to focus on immediate and long-term security strategies to prevent further attacks in Plateau State. It comes amid growing concerns over recurring violence in the region, with authorities under pressure to deliver decisive action and restore public confidence in the country’s security framework.
