\n\nNigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has apologised to citizens over the persistent electricity outages affecting homes, businesses, and industries across the country. Speaking during a press briefing in Abuja, the minister acknowledged the hardship caused by the blackout, particularly amid intense heat conditions, and assured Nigerians that the government is actively working to resolve the crisis. 
Adelabu explained that the disruptions were largely due to factors beyond immediate government control, including issues with gas supply to power plants and ongoing repairs of critical infrastructure such as pipelines. He revealed that a special committee has been set up to ensure gas producers meet domestic supply obligations, while efforts are also underway to improve payment systems and incentivise consistent gas delivery to the power sector. 
The minister expressed optimism that electricity supply would improve within two weeks as repair works are completed and supply stabilises. He also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s broader goal of boosting power generation to about 6,000 megawatts by the end of 2026, describing the current situation as temporary and pledging continued efforts to strengthen generation, transmission, and distribution nationwide.
