\n\nAt least eight people have been killed after suspected terrorists detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) on a bridge in Niger State, in a deadly early morning attack that has heightened security concerns. The explosion occurred along Luma Road in Borgu Local Government Area, where the attackers reportedly targeted a key bridge linking several rural communities. 
Reports indicate that the bridge, which connects Luma, Babana, and Agwara communities, was severely damaged in the blast, disrupting movement and trade in the area. The situation turned fatal when a vehicle travelling between nearby communities drove over the planted explosive, killing all occupants, including the driver. Authorities say the route is a critical access point, particularly for traders heading to the Babana border market, a major economic hub in the region. 
Security agencies have confirmed the incident and launched clearance operations, with ongoing efforts to secure the area and prevent further attacks. The bombing underscores growing concerns over the use of explosives by armed groups and the spread of terrorist activities into new regions, raising fresh questions about intelligence, surveillance, and the protection of vulnerable rural communities across Nigeria.
