\n\nNigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has dismissed long‑standing public claims that he is a womaniser, saying the label people attach to him is wrong.
Speaking in an interview with Voice of Nigeria, the award‑winning singer said the public often misunderstands his personal life because he is open about his feelings for women. He explained that while he is attracted to women, that does not make him a womaniser. “The biggest misconception about me is that I’m a womaniser. I like women; I’m just straightforward. But I’m a lover boy. I love hard,” he said.
2Baba, who has been in the spotlight for more than two decades, also spoke about the pressures that come with fame and how public opinion often shapes what people think about celebrities.
The music icon opened up about fatherhood, saying one of the hardest parts of his life has been trying to balance his music career with raising his children. He said he feels blessed to have eight children, but sometimes regrets not having enough time to spend with them all together. “I have eight kids now. I feel blessed and happy, but the sadness comes from the fact that I haven’t gotten to spend the type of time I should have spent with them collectively,” he explained.
Despite that challenge, 2Baba described his children as a “constant source of pride and joy.” “They’re amazing, brilliant people. I just wish I was there more,” he added.
In the interview, the veteran singer also addressed criticism aimed at his wife, Natasha, especially claims that she controls his decisions or has too much influence over him. He said many of those stories are far from the truth and are driven by people’s assumptions. “Everybody has a say in everybody’s business now. Sometimes people say very nasty things. You grow thick skin, but sometimes it gets to you. Reality is reality; she’s a brilliant woman, a strong woman,” 2Baba said.
Away from the stage, 2Baba said he is naturally shy, which surprises many fans because of his confident public image. He explained that while performing his music requires him to be outgoing, in private he often enjoys quiet moments and being alone. “My profession doesn’t permit me to be shy, but I’m actually a very shy person. Sometimes I just want to be alone and chill,” he told the interviewer.
