Nigeria’s U-20 Women Face England in World Cup Round of 16

Nigeria’s Falconets will face England today, September 17, in the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, with a place in the quarter-finals at stake.

The match is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Nigeria time. Nigeria reached the knockout stage after finishing the group phase with four points, including a 10–1 victory over New Zealand, a goalless draw against China and a 0–2 defeat to Spain.

The emphatic victory over New Zealand was Nigeria’s biggest result of the group stage and provided a significant boost heading into the knockout rounds. However, the Falconets now face a different challenge against England, who also progressed to the last 16.

The Round of 16 represents a fresh stage of the competition, meaning previous results will not determine the outcome of today’s match. Both teams will need to perform over the course of the game to secure a place in the quarter-finals.

Nigeria’s campaign has attracted attention following the team’s attacking display against New Zealand, while the draw with China also demonstrated the competitiveness of the group stage.

For the Falconets, the England encounter provides an opportunity to continue their World Cup campaign and move into the final eight of the tournament.

The match is one of the key fixtures involving Nigeria in international football today and will be closely followed by supporters as the young Nigerian side attempts to progress further in the tournament.
