Coca-Cola has announced plans for a proposed $1 billion investment in Nigeria, signalling renewed confidence in the country’s consumer market and long-term economic prospects.
The announcement was welcomed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 75th anniversary celebration of the Nigerian Bottling Company in Abuja. Tinubu assured local and international investors that Nigeria remains open for business and said the government would continue working to create a more favourable environment for investment.
The proposed investment by the Coca-Cola System is expected to strengthen its operations in Nigeria and support further expansion across the country. Coca-Cola has maintained a significant presence in Nigeria for decades through its bottling and distribution network.
The investment comes as the Federal Government continues efforts to attract foreign capital and encourage multinational companies to expand their operations in the country.
For Nigeria, the proposed $1 billion commitment could provide additional support for manufacturing, supply chains, distribution and employment while strengthening the country’s position as an important market for global consumer brands.
The announcement also comes amid signs of renewed investor interest in Nigeria, with the country recently attracting attention from international investors across sectors including energy, finance, manufacturing and telecommunications.
