Tinubu to Launch 2027 Re-Election Campaign in Kaduna on October 24

President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to launch his campaign for re-election in the 2027 presidential election in Kaduna State on October 24, according to Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council. Yari disclosed this on Friday after briefing the President on preparations at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. He explained that the meeting focused on the campaign council’s readiness and the proposed timetable for the President’s visits to states across the country. Yari added that Tinubu had approved the proposed schedule, with the council’s inaugural meeting expected to take place on October 14 at the State House Banquet Hall.According to Yari, the campaign will move to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, after the Kaduna flag-off before proceeding to Maiduguri, Borno State. He said the full itinerary would be made public following the inauguration of the campaign council. The former Zamfara State governor also expressed confidence in the APC’s preparations, arguing that the party’s political presence across northern and southern Nigeria would be important to its campaign strategy. He maintained that the administration would highlight its record in office as it seeks another term, while insisting that the President’s campaign would focus on what the government says it has achieved rather than relying solely on new promises. The campaign preparations come ahead of the presidential election scheduled for January 16, 2027, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s timetable. Yari said the APC would begin its state visits after the Kaduna event, with further details to be released once the campaign council is formally inaugurated. Tinubu’s re-election bid is expected to face competition from candidates including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress. As political parties intensify their preparations, the coming months are expected to feature campaign rallies, policy debates and efforts by candidates to secure support from voters across the country.
