Cross River Youths Endorse Tinubu, Otu for Second Terms Ahead of 2027 Elections

A youth-based political organisation in Cross River State, known as the Evidence Group, has endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu for second terms ahead of the 2027 general elections. The endorsement was announced on Friday, October 9, 2026, during the official unveiling of the group in Ogoja Local Government Area. The event also featured the inauguration of the group’s Ogoja working committee, which is expected to coordinate grassroots mobilisation in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates at the federal and state levels. The group said its activities would focus on strengthening the party’s support base among young people across the state.Speaking at the event, the group’s Director-General, Eyoma Bassey, said the organisation would begin mobilisation across university campuses, villages, wards and polling units. He urged members of the newly inaugurated committee to commence their assignments immediately, stressing that local structures must be vetted by the group’s central leadership before being formally announced. Bassey said the organisation intended to publicise what it described as the achievements of the Tinubu and Otu administrations while encouraging young people to participate actively in the political process. He also called for greater youth involvement in governance, noting that young people had an important role to play in shaping the country’s democratic future. The Ogoja chapter coordinator, Jude Fingha, expressed the group’s readiness to mobilise support for APC candidates in the 2027 elections, adopting the slogan “5 over 5” to signify its ambition to secure victories for the party across electoral levels. He urged young people to participate peacefully in political activities and avoid violence and intolerance. The group’s Director of Women Mobilisation, Precious Bessong, also encouraged women to take an active role in mobilising their families and communities. The endorsement adds to a series of political mobilisation efforts in Cross River State ahead of the next general elections, although the group’s declaration represents its own position and does not establish the wider voting preferences of the state’s electorate.
