The Lagos State Government has commenced consultations with residents and stakeholders across the state’s five divisions as it begins preparations for the 2027 budget.
The consultation is designed to give residents, community groups and other stakeholders an opportunity to identify priority areas and make recommendations that could influence the state’s spending plans for the coming fiscal year.
According to TVC News, the government also reported an 80% performance level on the implementation of the current budget, while stressing the importance of broader public participation in determining development priorities.
The consultations are expected to cover key areas of public interest, including infrastructure, transportation, education, healthcare, environmental management and other services that directly affect residents.
The state government’s decision to engage residents ahead of the 2027 budget is aimed at making the budgeting process more inclusive and ensuring that planned projects reflect needs identified across different communities.
Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub and one of Africa’s largest metropolitan areas, faces significant demands for infrastructure and public services because of its growing population and economic activity.
The government said feedback gathered during the consultation process would help shape priorities for the 2027 fiscal year, with stakeholders expected to present proposals on projects and policies that could improve living conditions and support economic development across the state.
