The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed its calendar for the 2026/27 season, announcing dates and host countries for several major continental competitions. The schedule includes the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda from June 19 to July 17, 2027. Qualification for the tournament is scheduled to begin in September 2026, while CAF said the updated calendar is aimed at providing greater stability and predictability for national teams, clubs and other stakeholders across the continent.
The calendar also includes several youth and women’s competitions. Ghana will host the 2027 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, while Morocco has been selected to stage the 2027 U-17 AFCON. South Africa will host the 2027 CAF Super Cup, while Morocco, Egypt and Senegal are also set to stage other major CAF events during the 2026-27 cycle. The continental club competitions will likewise continue under the 2026/27 Champions League and Confederation Cup calendar, with the preliminary rounds scheduled to begin in September.
CAF said the increasingly structured calendar reflects its efforts to strengthen existing competitions while creating additional opportunities at senior and youth levels. For Nigeria, the schedule will be particularly important as the country’s clubs prepare for continental competition and the Super Eagles begin their campaign for qualification for the 2027 AFCON. The confirmed dates are also expected to help national associations and clubs plan their domestic seasons, player releases, travel arrangements and preparation camps well ahead of the various competitions.
