The Federal Government has introduced a new digital platform that enables Nigerians to register births and deaths, apply for birth attestation, correct civil registration records and verify certificates online. The initiative is designed to simplify access to civil registration services, reduce paperwork and improve the efficiency of obtaining official documents.
Applicants can access the portal, create an account, complete the required application forms, upload supporting documents where necessary and track the status of their requests online. The platform also allows users to request corrections to existing records and verify the authenticity of birth and death certificates without visiting registration centres in many cases.
The new system forms part of the Federal Government’s broader effort to modernise Nigeria’s civil registration process and improve access to vital records. Authorities encouraged citizens to use the online platform for faster and more transparent service delivery while continuing to comply with the country’s birth and death registration requirements.
