Balogun made history by becoming the first American player since 1930 to score twice in a World Cup match, helping the USA secure a 4-1 win over Paraguay. Havertz followed with a brace in Germany’s 7-1 victory over Curaçao, while Ayari netted twice in Sweden’s 5-1 win against Tunisia.
With many teams yet to begin their campaigns, the Golden Boot standings are expected to change as the tournament progresses. The award goes to the player with the most goals, with assists and fewer minutes played used as tie-breakers if needed.
