The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced its gantry price for Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) to ₦1,200 per litre, marking a fresh downward adjustment in its pricing structure. The refinery also set a coastal price of about ₦1,153 per litre, a move expected to influence fuel distribution costs across Nigeria’s downstream sector.

The price cut represents a significant drop from previous rates, with reports indicating a reduction of about ₦75 from the earlier ₦1,275 per litre. Industry observers say the adjustment is linked to ongoing volatility in global oil markets, particularly tensions in the Middle East, which have disrupted crude supply and affected pricing dynamics worldwide.

Analysts note that the new pricing could ease pressure on fuel marketers and potentially lead to lower pump prices over time, although past trends show that reductions at the depot level do not always translate immediately to retail stations. The development underscores the growing influence of the Dangote Refinery in Nigeria’s fuel market, especially as the country increasingly relies on local refining amid fluctuating global oil conditions.
