\n\nThe Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) has alerted the Senate to sharp increases in maintenance costs for the Presidential Air Fleet, largely due to servicing aircraft abroad rather than locally, underscoring funding gaps as the 2026 fiscal year progresses. Permanent Secretary Mohammed Sanusi told the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence that continued overseas maintenance arrangements have driven up expenditure, complicating budget planning for the fleet and other intelligence units.
Sanusi also highlighted wider resource constraints facing intelligence agencies, including irregular release of funds, a shortfall in capital budget implementation and limited operational vehicles, which he said hinder effective national security operations. Lawmakers, including the committee chair, said they will review ONSA’s 2026 budget submission and consider possible interventions to address the funding shortfalls, which come amid broader concerns over security financing and operational readiness.
