\n\nNigeria international goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has officially parted ways with South African Premier Soccer League side Chippa United, revealing he left without another club lined up and will take his time before deciding his next destination.
The 29-year-old shot-stopper was granted his release by Chippa United after submitting a request earlier this year, a decision he described as difficult but necessary for his career progression. Nwabali made the announcement while still on duty with the Super Eagles at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where he helped Nigeria secure a bronze medal.
Speaking on South African radio, Nwabali admitted he has no concrete offers yet and is not rushing to sign with another team. “There is no contract in front, there is no club in front,” he said. “I’m not desperate to get a club – but whatever club comes, if it suits my agent and it suits me, I am going to play.”
The goalkeeper requested his release from Chippa midway through the season, and both he and the club agreed it was the best step forward. Nwabali’s departure ends his four-year spell with Chippa, where he became a regular starter and earned acclaim for his role with the Nigerian national team.
Despite the uncertainty about his future, Nwabali said his decision was driven by a desire to find the right fit and maintain his passion for the game. He also noted that happiness and playing opportunities are central to his next move, and he is open to offers from clubs both within Africa and abroad.
