\n\nNigerian military forces have killed at least 16 fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a coordinated operation against terrorist hideouts in the North-East, while successfully rescuing 11 abducted victims.
According to security sources, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence on the movement and location of ISWAP elements operating within the area. Troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce exchange, overpowering them and dismantling their operational base.
During the raid, several weapons, ammunition, and other logistics believed to belong to the insurgents were recovered. The rescued victims, who had been held captive by the terrorists, were safely evacuated and are currently receiving medical attention and psychological support.
Military authorities say the operation is part of ongoing efforts to degrade terrorist networks, cut off their supply routes, and restore peace to communities affected by insurgency in the region.
